Rae Bennu

Rae is a more than human geographer and horticulturalist, earned her MS from the University of New Mexico’s Geography & Environmental Studies graduate program, and has been teaching in various capacities for over twenty years. Driven by her passions for Earth and all her beings, regenerative agriculture, local food systems, gardening pedagogies, community gardens, water and soil conservation and restoration, the creation of backyard wildlife refuges to support our more than human community members through the NM Backyard Refuge Program, and environmental justice, she is dedicated to community-building, sharing knowledge to empower people to grow their own food and create wildlife habitats to strengthen the resilience and health of the interconnected communities in the greater Albuquerque area and beyond.
