Plant Lists

We update our plant list from time to time to include additional information about habitat value and plant/wildlife associations. Check out the latest version!

The ABQ PDF list has symbols to indicate which species do well in containers, those happy in Santa Fe and the East Mountains, those least likely to be eaten by rabbits or deer, and those that require more water or are unsuitable for the dry and sandy soil of Rio Rancho.

You can use the database on iNaturalist.org to see pictures and the geographic distribution of each plant on our list. Those plants that live in the habitat garden at Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge or at the ABQ BioPark are indicated so that you can meet the plant in person!
