Alex Ulibarri
Alex comes to Ciudad SWCD with many years of experience in education, curriculum development, and audiovisual communication. She descends from generations of ranchers, farmers, and acequia mayordomos in Northern New Mexico and has a deep connection to and love of our land. Alex's studies and work's in sustainability and design have taken her all over the United States and the world and back home to her querencia, New Mexico. During undergrad, she studied environmental economics and policy in Minnesota and environmental sustainability in Brazil. More recently, she studied digital design and communication in the Basque Country and worked as professional designer in Europe. Upon returning home, she translated that experience into a middle school level digital design curriculum and taught at a charter school in Albuquerque. Alex is grateful to have come full circle and return to her agricultural roots. She believes composting is a way to reconnect ourselves, our youth, and our communities to the land. Outside of work she enjoys gardening, stargazing, and being with her family.
