2025-2026  EMFHP application

For assitance in reducing wildfire risk and improving forest health on you property submit an application here for our East Mountain Forest Health Program.

There is a non-refundable fee for the Forest Health Assessment of your property. Your assessment fee can be paid by selecting the green Forest Health Assessment Fee Payment box. Assessment fees are $100 for all projects (as of August 2025)

Alternatively, assessment fees may be paid by mailing a check made out to Ciudad SWCD. Checks should be mailed to ATTN: Ciudad EMFHP PO Box 93463, Albuquerque NM 87199. Be sure to include names and addresses that match your application if you choose this payment option.

Once Ciudad SWCD receives your assessment fee and application, a Ciuadad SWCD representative will contact you to schedule your assessment.

Our program covers 80% of the cost (as of August 2025) for defensible space and forest health projects completed through the program.

Please Note:

In order to qualify for this program, applicants must be able to identify the boundary lines of their property. Property lines must be clearly marked at the time of assessment.

This program does not include removal of existing dead and down fuels on your property.

We only remove or treat what we cut.

To participate in this program your property should be located within Ciudad SWCD or the La Madera/San Pedro areas of Coronado SWCD. If you are within the Bernalillo County area of Central Tri-County SWCD, you may apply for the Ciudad program and we will coordinate with you and Central Tri-County to determine which program is the best fit. This site from the NM State Engineer will help you quickly identify what SWCD your property resides in

What Ciudad SWCD is able to accomplish as a District is largely restricted to the availability and guidelines  of grant funding that are awarded.
