The Ciudad Board of Supervisors meeting is open to the public and meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month, unless it falls on a federal holiday, then it is on the fourth Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m. at the USDA Building, 6200 Jefferson NE., 1st Floor Conference Room, Albuquerque, 87109. J. Steven Glass, Chair
Steve Glass joined the Board of Supervisors in January 2003. Steve has worked with the District in the past on projects like backyard composting workshops and revegetation of a State Highway Department off-ramp at Juan Tabo and I-40. As a municipal wastewater biosolids composting program manager and a member of the NM Water Quality Control Commission, he is very familiar with a wide range of natural resource and conservation issues. He is currently directly involved in the development and implementation of the Watershed Restoration Action Strategy (WRAS).
Thomas Allen, Vice-Chair
Tom Allen became a member of the Ciudad Board of Supervisors in 2007 and accepted the position of Vice-Chair. He is a native New Mexican, and a resident of Corrales with a degree in Environmental Engineering. Tom has taught middle school science and math at the Bosque School in Albuquerque for the past 5 years. His classes are part of the Bosque Environmental Monitoring Program (BEMP), which studies and monitors water quality in the Sandia and Jemez Mountains.
Zoe Economou, Treasurer
Zoe Economou is a small farmer in the South Valley of Albuquerque, a member of South Valley Alliance, and president of the Los Ranchos de Atrisco/Armijo Community Acequia. She has been active in areas of agricultural preservation and sustainability, particularly as it pertains to urban fringe farming, and she is committed to organic methods of farming. Zoe came on as a supervisor in 2008.
Sara Newton-Juarez, Supervisor
Sara Newton Juarez, a retired public school teacher, is a resident of the South Valley. She has been a member of Ciudad's Board of Supervisors since June 2004. Sara is very active in her community as a member of the Armijo Neighborhood Association and the South Valley Alliance, where she works to preserve land of agricultural and cultural importance.
Dale Kennedy, Supervisor
Dale Kennedy has been a resident of Sandia Park for the last 25 years. During this time he has focused on restoration and biodiversity of his land. He has a Master of Arts in Education from the University of New Mexico. During his professional career as a producer of education media in medicine, he sat on boards of professional societies, and for two years was the president of the Bio-Communications Association. He is familiar with the operations of non-profit organizations and board work. He initiated the formation of the North 14 Deep Well Protest Group; and he is a co-chairperson for that organization. Mr. Kennedy was appointed Supervisor August, 2011.
